2010 Start! Heart Walk

WHAT: More than 10,000 residents will walk with family, friends, co-workers, individuals making lifestyle change and heart & stroke survivors in the American Heart Association Start! Heart Walk. The 5k (3.1 mile) event inspires walkers to step toward a stronger, healthier life for themselves and their community while raising vital funds to fight heart disease and stroke.

WHERE: Loch Haven Park

COST: Free (although donations welcome)
WHY: Heart disease is the No.1 killer of Americans and Stroke is the No. 3 killer and leading cause of disability. Exercising for as little as 30 minutes each day can reduce your risk. In fact, research has shown that you can gain about two hours of life for every hour of regular vigorous exercise you do. The Start! movement can provide free tools and resources to help you, your company and your family.
