UCF Expands Master's & Ph.D. Programs

UCF is discussing the establishment of a graduate college. This reflects a new level of investment by UCF in its graduate programs, both in the quality of education as well as its service to the community during the next decade and beyond.

“A graduate college enhances the university-wide perspective on research, scholarship, and graduate education at UCF,” states Patricia Bishop, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies at UCF. “The formation of a graduate college facilitates the creation of a true, university-wide graduate community of learners, scholars and educators.”

Timber Creek Debate Team 2008

TCDebate%20photo.JPGThe Timber Creek Debate Team joined the national circuit this year, with appearances at Yale, Harvard and Emory. At each of these events, Timber Creek was represented by two Public Forum teams that made it as far as any Florida school. Timber Creek is the only public high school in Orange County to achieve their current level of success, which can only be rivaled by Trinity Preparatory School, a privately funded institution.

The team’s faculty sponsor, Elizabeth Eskin, is also the chairman of the Advance Placement program. The team participates in three high school leagues: the prestigious National Forensic League (NFL), the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL), and the Florida Forensic League (FFL).

Page Private School’s Centennial Anniversary

One hundred years is a long time to be doing anything, but when it comes to teaching our youth, it’s an achievement of epic proportions. Page Private Schools, one of which is located in East Orlando, is marking their centennial anniversary this month, celebrating with a party for students, parents, alumni and staff, as well as a weeklong tribute as a lesson, of sorts, on the school’s history.

Education: A Day of Celebration

East Orlando Celebrates Education Day, presented by Bright House Networks, was a fun-filled October day at Waterford Lakes Town Center. The East Orlando Chamber of Commerce, local businesses and non-profits teamed up to support our area’s schools. More than 10,000 people attended the event, as schools highlighted their student talents and held fundraisers for upcoming events.
