There’s an old expression in the media business, “If it bleeds, it leads.” In other words, the more negative the coverage, the more attention the story receives. The real estate market has had its share of negative headlines. When buyers hear bad news, it affects demand, creating a vicious circle of perpetual gloom scaring those who might otherwise consider buying or selling. The Century 21 Executive Team of East Orlando fits the bill. The Team, with more than 60 agents, was founded by Pam Wolters. But, this was not the real beginning. The basis of the new business venture sparked when she opened Our Town Realty in Lake Nona in August 2003, the first real estate company to open up in that area. The Team is complimented with partner Julie Yonan, who oversees the Tampa division. Together they work in concert to capture the real estate business from Tampa Bay to Daytona Beach. Together, they created a team that refuses to let the economy dictate their values or change their attitude.
In fact, when the economy was taking a downturn, the Century 21 Executive Team was gearing up to take an offensive approach. “It wasn’t just banks that were failing when the economy started to fall,” says Gillian Lugar, an agent with the Team. “It was real estate offices closing left and right as well. We began what Pam calls the ‘Revolution in Real Estate’ as an offensive maneuver to the economic downturn. While other branches were closing their doors or hunkering down, we decided to have more of a decisive presence in our community. We wanted to be close to our neighbors and give back to our community during this trying time.”
Some of their most recent community projects include contributing to Century 21′s Easter Seals fund raising and participation in Relay for Life. In addition, they donate $100 for the Principal’s Special Needs Program at each closing for local schools.
