Small Business Profile - Give me a Sign
Jay Patel knew he wanted to put his creative energy into a business that could satisfy his desire to provide quality products and services, while fulfilling the needs of the people of East Orlando. “I had to make a career decision to either continue in the corporate world or start my own business. I looked at both the retail and printing business and felt that the sign business allowed for more creativity in delivering great customer service.” So, in April 2006, Jay opened the doors to Platinum Signs and Design, LLC and began producing the type of signage he would be proud to sell.
October Chamber Business of the Month – Harley Davidson and Carl Black Automotive
For the month of October, the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce (EEOC) has selected two prominent businesses as the Chambers Business of the Month, The East Orlando Harley-Davidson and the Carl Black Automotive Group. The reason the chamber has two businesses sharing this prestigious award is because of their extreme participation and commitment as sponsors for the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce 23rd Annual Golf Tournament at Stoneybrook Golf Course East that was held on Friday, September 21st. It was very difficult to select only one business of the month since both of these companies met the requirements both contributed excessively to the golf tournament.
Chamber Hires New Marketing Director
Get to know Erika Spence, the new director of marketing and special events for the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce. Why were you attracted to the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce? I first learned about the Chamber several years ago when I was looking for an organization to volunteer with. My criteria was simple; I was looking for an organization that was close to home, inviting to newcomers and making a positive impact on the area. I joined several committees right off the bat and helped with the first-ever BlueCross BlueShield of Florida Chili Cook-off at Taste of Orlando in 2005. In 2006, I was elected to the Board of Directors for the Chamber and created a new communications committee that helped promote upcoming events, Chamber news and redesigned the Web site.
Johnny Rockets Wins Business of the Month
Each month the East Orlando Chamber of Commerce (EOCC) highlights one of its members as the Business of the Month. To gain this recognition, the selected business has to meet or exceed the business of the month criteria found on the chambers website at www.eocc.org. As the site explains, the chamber business of the month shall be chosen based upon a particular business meeting one or several of the following criteria in the past 60 days. The Chamber members vote monthly on which business exemplified these criteria the best. While several of the members may have met one or even a few of the criteria, this month one business stands out.
